Family Apostolates: Matruvedi & Pitruvedi
Nurturing Faith, Strengthening Homes, Building Community
In the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church, the family is celebrated as the Domestic Church—the very first place where children encounter the love of God. To support parents in this sacred, beautiful, and often challenging role, our parish offers two foundational lay associations: Matruvedi (Mothers’ Association) and Pitruvedi (Fathers’ Association).
Together, these organizations serve as the twin pillars of our parish families, ensuring that the faith we profess on Sunday is actively lived out at home Monday through Saturday.

Matruvedi (Mothers’ Association)
“Behind every holy family is a mother who prays.”
Matruvedi brings together the women and mothers of our parish. Drawing deep inspiration from the quiet strength of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the relentless prayers of Saint Monica, this association empowers women to be the spiritual heartbeat of their homes.
Core Pillars of Action
- Spiritual Anchor: Leading the family in daily prayers, teaching children the Holy Rosary, and fostering a deep love for the Holy Qurbana (Mass).
- Pro-Life & Family Wellness: Standing firmly for the sanctity of life, maternal health, and providing a supportive network for young or expecting mothers.
- Compassionate Charity: Organizing parish food drives, visiting the sick, and quietly supporting families or widows facing financial distress.
- Modern Parenting Seminars: Hosting regular discussions on raising grounded, faithful children in a digital world, with a special focus on digital wellness and mental health.
Pitruvedi (Fathers’ Association)
“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” — Joshua 24:15
Pitruvedi brings together the men and fathers of our parish. Modeled after Saint Joseph—the ultimate provider, protector, and silent worker—this association challenges and equips men to step up as the spiritual guides and role models for their households.
Core Pillars of Action
- Spiritual Leadership: Breaking the myth that faith formation is only a mother’s job. Pitruvedi encourages fathers to actively lead family prayers and openly practice their faith.
- Mentorship & Youth Guidance: Working alongside parish youth groups to mentor young men and women, helping them navigate career choices and life decisions.
- Parish & Civic Support: Acting as the driving workforce behind parish infrastructure projects, community security, and socio-economic outreach.
- Family Security & Counseling: Conducting workshops on financial literacy, handling vocational stress, and building strong, resilient marriages.
Joint Initiatives: Growing Together
Matruvedi and Pitruvedi frequently collaborate throughout the year to host major parish-wide events that celebrate and strengthen family bonds:
- Marriage Enrichment Weekends: Seminars led by couples and experts to help parish marriages thrive through communication and faith.
- The Annual Family Fest: A vibrant parish celebration featuring food stalls, cultural exhibitions, and games, completely organized by our parents.
- Family Counseling Cell: A confidential, safe space offering guidance and counseling for families navigating crisis, grief, or relational strain.
