St. James L.P. School is a prominent aided elementary school located at Pandakashalakkadavu in the Changanassery sub-district of Kottayam. Flourishing as an integral part of Changanassery—the historic land of the five lamps and the city of letters—this institution stands as one of the oldest aided schools established under the Corporate Management of the Archeparchy of Changanassery.

The school was founded under the heavenly patronage of St. James the Apostle. The Vicar of the Changanassery Metropolitan Cathedral serves as the manager of the school, actively guiding its administration.

History & Vision

Established in 1936, the school was envisioned by the then Eparchial Bishop, Mar James Kalacherry. His primary objective was to ensure quality and accessible education for the children of the Changanassery market area and the neighboring Kuttanad regions. Since its inception, the school has a rich history of nurturing generations of students, drawing large enrollments from its early days onward.

Academic Structure & Infrastructure

Situated in the heart of Changanassery’s urban area, the school offers primary education from Grades 1 to 4, along with an attached Pre-Primary section. To prepare students for a global future, instructions are imparted in both Malayalam and English mediums.

The institution boasts a dedicated, safe, and secure private campus equipped with modern amenities:

• Classrooms & Staff Facilities: The school features 5 spacious classrooms dedicated to instruction, 2 additional rooms for co-curricular activities, and a dedicated office room for the Headmaster and teaching faculty.
• Learning Resources: A well-stocked library containing over 300 books and a dedicated computer lab for IT education are available to enhance the students’ academic growth.
• Recreation & Wellness: The campus features a safe playground for physical activities. Additionally, a nutritious mid-day meal program has been successfully operational since July 27, 1992, ensuring the health and well-being of the children.
